Up-sell, cross-sell and down-sell are selling methods that can save you time and effort on advertising and easily help you get more profit.
1: Up-sell
It is to use a new supplemental advertisement to sell a more expensive product or an upgraded version of the product to customers when they plan to buy a certain product, so as to realize the upsell and increase the value of the order.
Because when customers are already interested in buying the product, it is easier to promote the upgraded version of the product.
This kind of psychology applies to selling, which is upselling. If you are selling sunglasses, you can make upsell with uv or polarized lenses.
Customers will find it a good reminder to offer an upgraded version of the product, because they will be interested in the additional information if they are not aware of some of the advanced features of the sunglasses.
2.Cross-sell is the process of promoting related or complementary products to customers in order to achieve more sales.
For customers, cross-selling should improve the purchase experience and help them get more value from their initial purchase.
If a customer has made up his mind to buy a product, timely introduction of some ancillary products to him will have a good sales effect.
For example, if a customer wants to buy badminton racket, he may also need badminton, which can be cross-sold. Cross-selling is about giving the user more.
The above are up-sell and cross-sell, very simple and common, usually set to automatic pop-up window, some will also appear on the product page.
Both increase the average order value by alerting customers to other products and product changes. At best, it can also prolong the life cycle of customers, allowing them to repurchase multiple times.
3.Down-sell
They are selling as opposed to up-selling. Instead of recommending more expensive products to customers, it increases profits by offering them lower-priced goods.
When the customer is ready to back out of the purchase, you can adjust the offer according to the customer's budget, recommend cheaper goods to customers, improve their chances of buying.
The most common example is a rapidly updated 3C product. If a customer can't afford the latest version of iPhone, you can recommend last year's iPhone at a lower price. So the customer has a chance to buy.
Down-sell allows you to sell quality products even if your customers can't afford them, compare them at different price points and help build brand loyalty.
Noted:
1.Customer first
Up-selling and cross-selling are strategies used to increase sales, if you do it correctly, they can also increase customer loyalty and repurchase rates.
So you need understand what the customer wants and realize that value by offering other products or features that improve the customer experience.
Simply stated, your sales increase actually helps your customers by making them feel that the choice you offer is a great convenience to them.
But customers will turn off if they don't think your sales drive is relevant to their needs and the options you offer aren't upgrades or unattractive.
Putting the customer first means that your marketing is not just about marketing, but about giving the customer direction and choice.
2. Don't overcharge
A customer may choose a product with a slightly higher value, but if it costs too much more than what he originally intended to buy, he will easily give up. In general, the up-sell value should not exceed 1.25 times of the original product, that is, the up-sell value is less than 25%.
If the original item is $100, the additional item should be less than $125. Up-sell value below 25% gives you an opportunity to increase the average order value without scaring customers away.
3. Show value of products
It is not very convincing to simply list the increased sales of goods. Also convince customers of the value of these items by suggesting recommendations or customer reviews on the add-on page, or sending an email listing the value of the product to motivate them to buy.
4. incentives can also be used to increase sales:
➤ Set up a spending amount, how much you can get free shipping;
➤ Free gift cards, discounts, free shipping for purchases up to a certain limit;
➤ You can get discounts for purchases of several items.
